symbology

if you learn to drive in the UK you get a whopping big `L` to put on your car bonnet. it`s kind of crude but it certainly does the job. in Japan however you get something different......a newly sprouted green and yellow leaf to symbolise your beginning. a beautiful metaphor for the young maybe, but watch out if you`re a senior citizen - they get red and yellow leaves to symbolise, well, nearing death. no wonder so many obachans and ojichans eschew them.
