Danish - to go

this weeks bad luck award goes to michael rasmussen - the Dane who rides for rabbobank pro cycling team.

starting the penultimate stage (individual time trial) of the Tour de France in St. Etienne he was sitting in 3rd place - a podium finish. however (get this) 2 crashes, a series of mechanical problems and 4 bike changes meant that about an hour and a half later he had fallen (pun intended) to 7th place overall. despite the 4 bike changes he apparently put his loss of 7 minutes down to drag created by the rip in his shorts.

yes, bad luck i suppose. but i think he made his own luck to an extent- he knew he'd have to do the time trial of his life to have any chance of the podium. well done for King of the Mountains competition. Hopefully next year someone else will join in the competition so maybe we can have at least a 2 horse race for the polka dots!

Disappoining tour in a way. i thought T-Mobile managed to throw away a good chance to get close to armstrong, when Kloden and Ulrich chased down their own team mate Vinokourov thus helping armstrong back to the front. it seemd like up till then their tactic of all three of them attacking armstrong one by one had a chance of success. i just don't know what they were doing. presumably vinkourov wasn't so happy as he's jumped ship already to the spanish team Liberty seguros.

hey ho, roll on next year. Go Ivan Basso!
