where's the charger?
I was looking for an old phone I wanted to recycle and realised there was a fair few in the house. In Japan it's not unusual for people to go through a few cell phones in a year. Having never owned one until a few years ago this came as quite a shock (as was the sat-nav and email which came as standard). In the UK infrastructures have always been slower and apart from Friday night rendezvous time I really didn't need one. Now I can't leave the house without mine.
In the image you can see some phones that belong to members of my family: the Wall Street brick was found in a recycling bin by my dad - it has a screen which is more than can be said for my mums, albeit cool looking, Sony which dates back to pre-Ericcson days and has a funky pull down microphone. The old Motorola is about to be recycled - the builders Nokia (sisters old one I borrowed) is an absolutely fine backup but as I changed contract I was given something which has more in the way of an interface. The Marc Newson designed AU number was absolutely fine in Japan but, as a limited edition, works exclusively in Japan (the menus are only in Japanese as well). My current Nokia is easy to use and comfortable and I pictured my dads full/touch screen to document the new wave. I can think of at least 2 other mobiles in the house and this describes our hoarding characteristics.
